The Uovo sbattuto con caffè is a very old-school Italian “comfort” or breakfast drink made by beating egg yolks with sugar and then mixing them with hot espresso until you thick, creamy and sweet. It is essentially a simple, uncooked zabaglione-like custard turned into a caffeinated drink. Perfect for a quick breakfast or as a pick-me-up.
The cup is called Bavero and was designed by the legendary Italian designer Achille Castiglioni in 1977.
