The Prosecutor vs The Convicted Felon

KamalaCapitolNightIOK.jpg KamalaLGBTQIOK.jpg KamalaWallStIOK.jpg KamalaCapitolHillIOK.jpg KamalaHawaiiIOK.jpg KamalaWhiteHouseIOK.jpg

The choice in the American presidential election couldn’t be easier. On one side stands a prosecutor who has devoted her life to helping the American people, who offers her opponents opponents a seat at the table, campaigns with republicans and vows to bring republicans into her administration. A person who works tirelessly against racism, women’s rights to decide over their own bodies and LGBTQ+ rights. On the other side a convicted felon, failed businessman and life long grifter that constantly spews out hateful speech against minorities, women, the LGBTQ+ community and the disabled, who praise dictators, threatens to prosecute opponents and to pull the license from TV stations he doesn’t approve of and who has devoted his life to enriching himself and the super rich.

When those are the choices, how on earth could the election be a tossup? And how is it possible that a man who has filed for bankruptcy six times and raised the American National Debt with $7.8 trillion during his last term is considered by many to be better at looking after the nation’s finances?

Maybe the American voters should listen to the people that knows Trump best like John Kelly, the former Marine general and Trump’s chief of staff, who labeled Trump as a “fascist” and criticized his admiration for authoritarian leaders. Or Mark Milley, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who described Trump as “fascist to the core” and a threat to democracy.

The world holds their breath waiting for the results of the election, fearing the worst and hoping for the best. The choice really shouldn’t be that difficult.

Happy Fashion Halloween

Halloween2024AnimationNewS.gif Halloween2024.2IOK.jpg Halloween2024.1IOK.jpg

The scariest Holliday of the year is back! Following the tradition of a themed carved pumpkin we chose to stay with a theme being close to our hearts. Last year we celebrated Karl Lagerfeld and now in 2024 it is time for another giant of the fashion industry, Alber Elbaz, famous for his work at Lanvin and for his impressive bow ties. Sadly Alber Elbaz passed away in 2021 due to COVID so lets give a thought to one of the giants of fashion.

Happy Halloween!

Filling Up the Bar

These are just some of the Italian bar essentials I picked up on my trip to Liguria in Italy. Amaro Camatti from Genova, Carpano Classico, Cynar (famously made with artichoke), Amaro Ramazzotti from Milano, Rosso Antico, the perfect premade Campari Soda bottles (designed by Fortunato Depero in 1932), Campari, Amaro di Santa Maria al Monte from Liguria, Basanotto Liquore di Liguria (made with sage, basil and chinotto), Liquore di chinotto di Savoy, Fabbri Ciliegie al liquore and finally Aperitivo di gran lusso l’asinello (a Genoese Aperitivo that’s been around since 1886).

This funicular railway with all of its 4 stops designed by Zaha Hadid is probably the best way to get a look of Innsbruck from above.

The 1962 Seattle World's Fair

SpaceNeedle1IOK.jpg SpaceNeedle3IOK.jpg SpaceNeedle2IOK.jpg

These fantastic vintage glasses from the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair are the perfect vessel for a summery long drink, specially The Space Needle created by Trader Vic. Thank you @vignettesbymelissa for this amazing addition to the home bar. I absolutely love them!

THE SPACE NEEDLE
1 1/2 oz Light Puerto Rican Rum
1 1/2 oz Dark Jamaican Rum
1 oz Curaçao
1 1/2 oz Lemon Juice
3/4 oz Orgeat

Blend in a mixer with one scoop of ice.

THE HISTORY
The 1962 Seattle World’s Fair, known as Century 21 Exposition, was a transformative event for Seattle. Held from April 21 to October 21, it attracted nearly 10 million visitors. The fair’s theme focused on science, space, and the future, reflecting the era’s Space Race.

Key attractions included the iconic 605-foot Space Needle, the U.S. Science Exhibit (now Pacific Science Center), and the Monorail. The fair required significant infrastructure improvements, including downtown beautification and transportation upgrades.

Century 21 served national interests during the Cold War, showcasing American scientific prowess. It also aimed to inspire youth to pursue science careers and influence international opinion favorably toward the U.S.

The fair’s legacy is still evident in Seattle Center, a permanent cultural complex. It contributed to Seattle’s transformation from a regional city to a global player, laying groundwork for its current status as a tech hub.

The event embodied a spirit of innovation and forward-thinking that continues to shape Seattle’s identity. Its impact on culture, architecture, and aspirations makes it a defining moment in Seattle’s journey to becoming a 21st-century global city.

This Is How To Make It!

A brand new series with a hands on approach to cocktail making by stop motion animation. These short animations will be featured on a very irregular basis on @mobilita.studio on Instagram. First up is the classic Dubonnet Cocktail. Of Course, if you prefer it is also made as a cocktail print.

Dubonnet was created in 1846 after a competition was held by the French government with a prize for anyone who could make a palatable quinine-rich drink. The French colonists in North Africa were suffering greatly from malaria and the only known cure was the incredibly bitter bark from the South American cinchona tree. The aim was to create a drink with enough of the quinine to help the French combat malaria but still be enjoyable enough to be used voluntarily.

Joseph Dubonnet created his Dubonnet by mixing Roussillon wines from five different grapes, blending them with herbs and spices like cocoa beans, colombo (a mild type of curry powder), orange peel, Colombian green coffee, cinnamon, camomille and elderflower. He then left it to mature in oak vats for three to four years.

The Dubonnet cocktail first appeared in print in 1914 in a book simply called Drinks by Jacques Straub but no one knows who first created it.

The Italian Saint and Her Swedish Cat Shaped Bun Companion

FikaLussekattWhiteIOK.jpg FikaLussebulleBlackWindowIOK.jpg FikaLussekattWhiteCoffeeShopIOK.jpg FikaLussekattBlackIOK.jpg FikaLussebulleWhiteWallIOK.jpg FikaLussekattBlackCoffeeShopIOK.jpg

Today on December 13 Swedes all over the world celebrate the Italian Saint Lucia of Syracuse, also known as Saint Lucy, with boys and girls wearing white dresses, holding candles and singing special Lucia songs. It wouldn’t be a proper Swedish celebration without fika so Lucia comes with a special treat, a traditional Swedish pastry called Lussekatt. This is a sweet bun filled with saffron and raisins that has been baked and enjoyed in Sweden during this season since the 17th century, even though the saffron wasn’t added until the late 1800s. It was probably first introduced by German and Dutch merchants in the 1600s, who brought a sweet Christmas bread they called duivekater to Gothenburg. Duivekater turned into the more Swedish Dövelskatter (katt is cat in Swedish) and when it started getting associated with Lucia celebrations the name changed to Lussekatt. Today this not very cat shaped bun is so popular, every December 13 Swedes eat an estimated 8 million of them, almost one for each Swede.

Santa Sees You!

Santa-Coasters.gif ChristmasCoastersAwake.jpg ChristmasCoastersSleeping.jpg ChristmasCoastersBadorGood.jpg ChristmasCoastersGoodness.jpg

Finally it’s December and at least in Stockholm we’ve got snow. Feeling the Holiday spirit we just released some new Christmasy coasters on Red Bubble. Something to think about to maximize the amount of presents from the man with the bag and to minimize the risk of getting a lump of coal instead. You can find them at our Made Close page on Red Bubble along with a whole range of Holiday themed products.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Spookiest Drinks for the Spookiest Week

When Halloween is on a Tuesday, Día de los Muertos is on a Thursday and Swedish All Saints Day is on Saturday there are a lot of days in need of a special cocktail. There are thankfully several cocktails that fits into that spooky category like Bloody Mary, Zombie, Blood and Sand, Death in the Afternoon, El Diablo and last but not least the Last Word.

Happy Fashion Halloween!

The fashion Halloween of 2023 featuring Karl Lagerfeld.

After having gone through the better part of the Rat Pack with Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra from 2018-2020 and Elvis Presley in 2021 we ventured into the movie with a James Bond themed pumpkin in 2022. This year we headed towards the world of fashion with Karl Lagerfeld, one of the true giants.

Happy Halloween!

Be Our Valentine

Time to spread some love again! Actually, maybe it’s about time to spread some lovin’, not only on Valentine’s Day but keep spreading it every day of the year, to friend and foe alike. This year we let the beautiful Bocca Sofa designed by the Italian Studio 65 in 1972 symbolize the day.

However you celebrate it, have a Very Happy Valentine’s Day!

And remember to make Each Day Valentine’s Day!

The Spooky Side of Sean Connery

Come October mobilità goes pumpkin hunting to select the finest, and usually the largest, pumpkin we can find. Then we get out our carving tools.

We have gone through most of the Ratpack with Dean Martin in 2018, Sammy Davis Jr. in 2019 and Frank Sinatra in 2020 and stayed in the music business in 2021 with Elvis Presley.

In 2022 we have left the singers behind and headed to the movies selecting the (in our humble opinion) best ever James Bond actor Sean Connery. True to the Holiday spirit however, we made him just a tad spooky.

Have an amazingly terrifying Halloween!

The Queen's Cocktail

As a way of sending Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II off I could think of nothing better than to raise a glass of the Queen’s Cocktail, also known as the Dubonnet Cocktail. The classic proportions are equal parts of Dubonnet and Gin (as had by the Queen Mother who also favored this particular cocktail) but the Queen preferred a little lighter version with two parts Dubonnet to one part gin.

Take Your Prints To The Beach

MaiTaiToteIOK.gif IslandBeachTotePinkSandIOK.jpg IslandBeachToteFloridaIOK.jpg IslandBeachToteWavesIOK.jpg

If you are going on vacation and desperately miss your mobilità prints, this is for you. Or if you just want to show off your sophisticated taste in cocktails together with your favorite islands while catching up on some well deserved rest on the beach. Maybe you are actually on one of the islands featured in the Island prints like Saint Barths, Bora Bora, Capri or Barbados or you want to set the pool bartender straight on how to make a perfekt Mai Tai.

If island life (or even cocktails) isn’t your thing why not have your home country, the country of your dreams, your favorite fika item, a fabulous piece of architecture, the Italian coffee drink of your choice or a Jaguar E-Type printed on the bag. All of the prints sold in the shop can be mixed and used for this high quality tote bag with sturdy canvas, vinyl sides and bottom and leather handles.

By the way, the tote works equally well going to the office or being out shopping.

Frank Sinatra smoking and eating at the same time, how scary isn’t that? And the fact that he is eating brain from a skull. The image is partly a mashup between different illustrations made by the illustrator genius of Josh Agle.
